Wolf Brother: Chronicles of Ancient Darkness – Michelle Paver

Rating: 9.5/10  Unknown

The book that I’m reviewing today is wolf brother. Wolf brother is a exciting and engaging book about a demon possessed bear that is killing everything in its path including young Toraks dad! It all started when torak told his dad a joke and then is when the bear stormed through and killed his dad. And his dad’s last words where go to the mountain. This story is placed in a forest where the is lots of clans like dear clan, raven clan and wolf clan which was toraks and his dads clan. This story is a action adventure. Torak has to face all of these twists and turns which make the story exiting. The most important bit of the story is when torak found a little wolf cub on the way to the mountain and joined forces with this little cub to reach the mountain and it is based in Toraks and the wolf’s perspective.

I would recommend this book to anyone that loves a bit of action and adventure! Although the storyline is a bit unrealistic and is definitely something that an adult would find unappealing. It is also a short chapter book and would be something that you would read for something small and engaging, so for that reason i would give it a 9 and a half out of 10.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Book 1) – Jeff Kinney

Unknown-1Rating: 6.5/10

Genre: Slice of life, drama, comedy

Recommended for: Those who like to read books written in a diary format with heaps of doodles and pictures!

Synopsis: Greg Heffley is a young boy starting middle school, who believes that he is the only one who really understands himself, and he struggles with the drama of popularity and friendship alongside his partner in crime Rowley Jefferson! Meanwhile, at home he deals with a very bizarre family life, his parents not seeming to understand how much they embarrass him. Join Greg Heffley in a funny diary – er, I mean, journal… *cough cough* Anyway, follow Greg Heffley and his hilarious adventures and mishaps!

Positives: It’s very funny, and Greg Heffley is a relatable character that is written in a way so the audience roots for him. I also like the drawings because they’re pretty cool, and while there is no specific storyline apart from him being in school, there are still mini little happenings within the book throughout.

Negatives: I personally think Greg can be a bit of a snob – all he seems to care about is popularity and how he looks, and he judges Rowley an awful lot for it. He doesn’t seem to care what he puts his friends through as long as he’s on good terms with the ‘cool crowd’. Also, Greg’s parents are… well… they don’t even listen to him. Let’s just say that!

“I’ll be famous one day, but for now I’m stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons.”
